St. Anthony Parish at 485 Grand Avenue, Taylor Mill, KY 41015-1919 US - RCIA
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process, a forward moving journey toward faith. The process is set within the Christian community, and its ministry is based on witness and hospitality. Is is an introduction to worship, pastoral care, spiritual direction, Social Justice, and involvement within the Church community.
RCIA is a ministry of evangelization. Jesus commanded: “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to fulfill all that I have commanded you.” This is Jesus’ mandate to His Church. If we are not fulfilling this call, we are not Church. RCIA is a vibrant process which carries out this mandate. In actively participating in this ministry, you are answering Jesus’ call.
Steps of the RCIA:
-
Precatechumenate Evangelization - Is a period of inquiry when interested parties become familar with the Faith community.
-
Catechumenate - Is the official time of instructions in the faith, participation in community activities, and joining in the prayer life of the Church.
-
Enlightenment - Is a 40 day period that focuses on a deepening awareness of God. Sacraments of Initiation are received.
-
Mystagogia - Is the time of growing toward closer relationships and deeper understandings of the mysteries of our Faith. This period never ends.
