Our theme for this school year is:

"Shine With the Spirit"

Welcome to the beginning of a new school year! A new school year brings a new theme! This year, our school will SHINE WITH THE SPIRIT! Our school community will be learning about the Fruits and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. We will discover how these gifts help us respond to the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives and make good choices so that we are able to serve God and others. Additionally, we will discover how the Fruits of the Holy Spirit develop if we, as Christians, use the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Moral actions are the fruit, and they show that the Holy Spirit lives within us. Please pray for us as we learn about these Gifts of the Holy Spirit and the fruits that we can bear so that we may “SHINE WITH THE SPIRIT” so that all may see God in us!

January – The Gift of Piety            
The Holy Spirit gives us Piety to help us have confidence in God and His promises. This gift helps us to show our respect for God and all of His creation. 

During the month of January, try to grow this gift by doing the following:  
Be sure you know how to make the Sign of the Cross properly. Be sure you know how to genuflect properly and always do it upon entering your pew at church. Spend time in God’s creation. Pray for world peace.  

The prayer for this school year is:

Lord Jesus, send down your Spirit upon me. When I have difficult choices to make, grant me Wisdom so that I may become more like you. When someone is hurting, grant me Understanding so that I may show compassion and love. When I am tempted, grant me Right Judgment/Counsel so that I make the choice that leads me to you. When someone hurts someone else, grant me Fortitude so that I may stand up for others. When I have an important decision to make, grant me Knowledge so that my decision is well-informed. When it is difficult for me to find you in our troubled world, grant me Piety so that I may have confidence in your promises. When I act selfishly, grant me Fear of the Lord so that I can see your great power in all that you created out of love for me. Please strengthen these Gifts of the Spirit in me so that I can bear fruit and SHINE WITH THE SPIRIT for all to see. AMEN
