Yearly School Theme

2022 - 2023 School Year

Our theme for this school year is:

"LOVE GOD….LOVE PEOPLE….LIVE VIRTUOUSLY"

At times, the world that we live in can seem overwhelming. People are always so
busy, running from place to place, trying to keep up. Sometimes bad news seems like the
only thing we hear. Everything can seem so complicated, even for grown-ups. In his song,
“Love God Love People”, singer Danny Gokey reminds us that to make a difference in the
world, we just need to keep things simple: Love God Love People, that’s all we need to do to
make the world a better place. You might be asking yourself, “What can help me lead a life in
which I love God and love people?”

Being Christians (and many of us Catholics), we are called to model our lives after our
Savior, Jesus Christ. In order to do this, we often look to others who have imitated Him well.
No one has imitated how to live like Jesus better than His mother, our mother: The Blessed
Virgin Mary. When we call on Mary to be a part of our lives, she helps lead us to Jesus. St.
Louis De Monfort wrote a book called True Devotion to Mary. In his book, St. Louis presents
10 virtues of Our Blessed Mother, that if we practice, will allow us to live a virtuous life, and
as a result love God and love people.

You may be wondering what it means to live a virtuous life. A virtue is “a habitual and
firm disposition to do the good”; in other words, a virtue helps us to do what is right. To live
a life in which we choose to do good or do what is right, is to live a virtuous life. This school
year, we are going to be focusing on the 10 virtues of our Blessed Mother Mary so that we
can learn to “Love God….Love People….Live Virtuously.”
